How Did Newhall Community Come To Be?

Newhall was founded in 1876 by Henry Mayo Newhall, a businessman and real estate developer. He planned the community as a way to bring together people of different backgrounds and cultures. In an effort to attract settlers, he offered free land to anyone who would move there. The area became a popular spot for farmers and ranchers, who were attracted by the rich soil and reliable water supply. As the population grew, so did the businesses that supported them- including stores, schools, churches, post offices, blacksmiths and more

In 1915 Newhall officially incorporated as a city with a population of 400 people. It quickly became known as “The Gateway To The Santa Clarita Valley” due to its location at the entrance of the valley.

Throughout its history, Newhall has been home to a diverse community of people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Today, it is still a thriving town with beautiful parks, excellent schools, and a vibrant downtown area full of unique shops and restaurants. Newhall is also known for its annual celebration of National Day of the Cowboy in July.

Newhall may have changed over time, but its spirit remains the same: a close-knit community that welcomes everyone with open arms. Whether you’re looking for culture or recreation, there’s something for everyone here in Newhall!
